Demolition of the car park starts March 2015 - 27 February 2015

Grainger has now appointed John F Hunt Demolition to undertake the demolition of the car park. J F Hunt is a specialist contractor with over 30 years’ experience delivering sensitive projects on complex sites, where the utmost consideration is required to the surrounding environment. They will be on site from 02 March 2015. Read the latest community update circulated locally here.


19-27 Young Street wins Housing Design Award for Private Rented Sector – Thursday 24 July 2014

Grainger’s Young Street development, designed by Assael Architecture, has won the Private Rented award at the annual Housing Design Awards, which recognises excellence in public housing, design and layout. It is the first time the Build to Rent sector has been commemorated at the awards and one of the first PRS schemes in London to win an accolade. Assael developed the design through extensive engagement with Grainger, the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea and local residents. The awards are promoted by the GLA and organisations across the housing and design sector including Communities and Local Government, RIBA, Homes and Communities Agency and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.


Grainger receives planning permission - 22 January

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has granted Grainger detailed planning permission for 84 new homes across two sites in the borough, comprising 53 new homes at Young Street and 31 new homes at Hortensia Road. Construction of 19-27 Young Street is due to start before the end of the year.

Grainger have now submitted a planning application to the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea.

The application, submitted on the 23 August, has been allocated the reference number PP/13/04726 while the Conservation area consent has been allocated the reference number CC/13/04727. They both can be viewed on the Council’s planning website, www.rbkc.gov.uk/planning and are open for comments. It can also be accessed via the link above. The Council’s statutory consultation is now underway.

Residents and local businesses attended the Young Street exhibition on 04 July on the latest designs for the car park site.

Grainger are now considering all the comments made before submitting a planning application at the beginning
of August.

Grainger build-to-let offer selected by RBKC - 26 September 2012

Grainger plc was selected by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea to develop and manage mixed tenure housing schemes, including purpose-built rental accommodation, on council-owned land.
